It looks like my actual sword strike is some kind of Quick Time Event. So, I hit my LMB once, the teeny-tiny, near-invisible cursor changes to a sword with a slash through it (indicating that I'm not supposed to hit that button again - as if I'm paying attention to the cursor shape instead of the guy attacking me with a sword), the character runs through its sword strike animation, and the cursor gets reset to a flaming sword (indicating that the LMB is OK to use again). This is slow. If I do the natural thing and just repeatedly hit the LMB because nothing seems to be happening, all that happens is the character waves his sword around over his head because the animation is getting interrupted and reset. Unplayable. Not Recommended.. Amazing story, amazing and strong characters, even the side quests are amazing and enjoyable,Totally worth playing.. a good RPG game. 10/10 story3/10 gameplay. This game is awful. The first 20 minutes of the game is cutscenes. Once those are over, in combat, you have to constantly change "fighting styles", if you don't then enemies will always dodge your attacks, with the message "Parry". Lastly, all of the character models in this game are completely broken, they look like this: https://i.imgur.com/GzSlfhr.png. it can be seen boring for 1st episode, do not leave the game, continue on playing. The story is deeper than you think, add this game to your play before die list. Like the novels, every character in that game is a shade of grey, neither black nor white and do not forget, chose lesser evil. then you will find out the contradiction of what they meant by "evil". Одна из лучших рпг в истории, что бы кто не говорил и большинство новых игроков жалуются на боевую систему, но по мне она по своему уникальна и интересна. Атмосфера лучшая в серии, основная сюжетная линия лучшая в серии!. I had absolutely no knowledge of the Witcher universe before I one day stumbled upon this beauty and decided to purchase it out of curiousity.. Best decision I've ever made. The Witcher has one of the most engaging stories I've ever seen in an RPG, I found it very easy to connect with all the characters with how natural they felt in terms of thinking and acting in certain situations; it truly felt like I was a part of this game's world. The soundtrack is phenomenal, it has all the ambiance and atmosphere you need to truly feel immersed. I especially enjoyed the fact that the choices you make within the game do have an impact on your future. Literally. The decisions you made in The Witcher can be transferred to the second game of the trilogy and so on. The only 'downside' I could possibly point out about The Witcher is that it is quite an old game, so the controls and animations may take some time getting used to, as well as the voice acting. I personally had no problems with those as they only seemed very trivial in comparison to all the great things this game had to offer. All in all, I'd say that The Witcher is absolutely worth its price, would recommend it to anyone. Simply give it a go and I promise you, you will not regret it <3P.S. I highly recommend players to take their time listening to all the dialogues and reading Geralt's (your main character) journal entries to get the most out of this game; it greatly helps with the immersion!. The start of the monster slaying trilogy by CD Projekt Red begins, with our hero Geralt, dead. (not a spoiler, literally the first cutscene) You awaken in Kaer Morhen only to be greeted by a gang of bandits. Some things happen, some things get stolen, and this kicks off the main goal of the plot, to find and destroy the gang that attacked you. As you progress, you uncover corruption and evil in every corner. The gameplay. It's pretty fun, very "early 2000s pc rpg fight system thing" you click the enemy, a sword with a special fire around it appears, you then time your click when this fire sword appears, and Geralt will begin to chain combos. Because of this, progression is noticeable, as you earn new combos. Your primary objective is to track down and destroy this gang who attacked you. The following 30 hours (or longer, if you do the side quests) involves detective work and tracking. You'll make a lot of choices, some you'll regret hours after making them. There are also side quests, which I didn't care to do all of them, I was too invested in the main quest to be distracted. Those side quests involve both Witcher Contracts and side stories. The combat was at first, annoying, but as I got farther into the game I started to enjoy it more and more. You really notice Geralt getting stronger over the course of the game.Technical issues occurred quite often. I had some pretty bad frame drops on my 1050 ti, mostly when walking through the main city, and during large battles. I had 2 crashes, one during a large battle, and another when I was just walking to my next objective. And about that walking, you do it a lot. Most of the game in between fighting and plot twists, is walking from one map marker to the next. And those map markers are somewhat confusing. Often times you'll be told to talk to someone, only for them to not be near the red dot on the map.. One thing I liked about the game was that there were only three armor sets. In most RPGs you get new armor sets fairly often, but here, when you get new armor it feels a little more special. At the end of the journey, Geralt proves himself to be one of the better video game protagonists. The ending also sets up the events of Witcher 2 quite nicely, so I recommend playing that after.
